Let’s cook together!

Do you enjoy cooking and baking?  Or maybe haven’t really tried yet, but are wanting to learn? Come enjoy time in the kitchen where you get to decide the kind of foods we make.  We will make snacks and small meals, learning new skills while having lots of fun preparing and eating! 

This class is at Crossett Brook Middle School. Pick-up time is at 5:15 pm.

YC5S YOUTH CLAY GRADES 7 - 9 Tues at Seminary

Calendar May 2, 2023 at 4 pm, runs for 6 weeks

This new after school class will focus on clay basics. Students will explore several handbuilding techniques such as pinch, coil, slab and extrusion. In addition, students interested in learning to use the wheel, will have an opportunity to learn the basic process of throwing.

Fee includes clay and students have access to all studio tools.

 

 

YC5S - STUDIO ART GRADES 3 & 4 - Wed at Seminary

The children’s after-school art classes are a great opportunity for kids to have fun creating and making art. Kids will explore various art styles and mediums to complete a number of creative projects. Using a variety of materials, kids will experiment, develop new skills, and use their imagination. Projects help kids to express themselves, boost their self-confidence and are a great social activity. Classes are fun, educational and are taught by experienced and supportive instructors.

Classes are held at the Green Mountain Seminary Building at 201 Hollow Road, Waterbury Center. Parents can arrange to have public school transportation drop children off at the location. Pick-up time is 4:30 pm.

Projects allow kids to learn and develop new skills, and use their imaginations. Participation allows kids to express themselves, boost their self-confidence and enjoy a group social activity. YC5C - MORE THAN WORDS; CREATING ZINES - Grades 5 - 8 Thurs at CBMS

A zine (pronounced zeen) is a self-published booklet used as a form of self-expression. The format of zines varies and typically consists of a stapled paper booklet with drawings, cartoons, text, collage and more. Students will use a wide range of materials including, watercolors, sharpie pens, markers, collage papers, and other types of embellishments to create their personal work of self-expression. Zine making encourages unlimited creative expression.

Students will look at the use of language, poetry, and image together to express conflict and emotion. This is a great opportunity for youth to reflect on what is important to them and express themselves in an (uncensored) creative way.

This class is at CBMS. Pick-up time is 5:15 pm.

YC5C - WOODWORKING GRADES 5 - 8 - Thurs at CBMS

Whether learning the basics or honing their skills, these young woodworkers will get experience on a variety of tools, their safe usage and how to create functional and creative works of art.

YC5S HIGH SCHOOL CLAY GRADES 9 - 12 Fridays at Seminary
