The term “whittling” evokes images of sitting on a front porch with a pocket knife whittling small figures. Imagine a lifetime hobby you can get started with needing only an investment of around $25 for a single knife and safety glove. With the COVID restrictions, the Governor has told us to stay home. So why not learn a new hobby!
Introduction to Woodcarving is a series of virtual sessions via Zoom where we will cover background information and the tools and techniques you need to get started. Prior to the class you will be provided with a kit consisting of a carving knife, safety glove to wear while carving and a precutsnowman blank, along with a written step by step overview of what will be covered in the Zoom session.Participants will then apply the basic cuts to produce a simple carving.
Deposit for the carving tools and safety glove is $50. A check must be provided at time of pick up of the kit. Students choosing to purchase the kit are able to do so or they can return the items and MakerSphere will refund the deposit. Kits will be available for retrieval at the MakerSphere Carving Studio or upon discussion of a meeting location.
