Wood Carving - Shore Bird
with Bob Lindemann
Please join MakerSphere for another exciting course in basic wood carving with instructor Bob Lindemann. He has been carving for many years and is part of the Green Mountain Woodcarvers (greenmountainwoodcarvers.org). His passion for teaching has continued after retiring from Lamoille Middle School and since coming to work with Waterbury. In this course, you will learn to carve a shore bird in basswood that will bring smiles to anyone interested in birding or a desire and passion for wood carving. Bring your intermediate skills or a desire to learn the basics in this basic class.
The first class will encompass woodcarving safety and the 3 basic carving cuts for you to hone throughout the process as you learn to carve a Spotted Sandpiper in the first 2 hr session. You can then take the tools home to finish carving and sanding. An optional Zoom session will be held the following Thursday to help you finish carving the piece. The second class will wrap up your carving and guide you through painting and displaying your masterpiece.
An additional deposit of $45.00 (cash or check please) for the cost of the carving knife, safety glove, paint, sandpaper and basswood blank is needed at the start of class. This will be refunded at the culmination of the course.
Please join us for a fun and exciting experience learning about shore birds and the carving process.
NOTE: Please bring a comfortable lawn chair for the in-person classes to be held under a tent an 201 Hollow Road on May 16th and May 23rd.
